During a Labor Day rally, Bush turned to running mate Dick Cheney and pointed out a reporter from the New York Times in the crowd. "There's Adam Clymer," he says. "Major league asshole." Showing an almost Luddite grasp of technology, Bush failed to realise his microphone was still on and everyone, including the world's media, heard the remark. "I regret everybody heard what I said," he shrugged.
